Q: Do the molds ship to a U.S. tool shop for full inspection before they are shipped to the molder for production?

A: All of our customers receive their new molds directly from our Chinese tool shop.  Our extensive process management systems along with a detailed inspection process allow us to ship direct.  We expect our molds to run straight out of the box.
Q: What software do you use & what type of files can you accept?

A: All mold designs are first completed in 2D AutoCAD for your review. Once the 2D design has been approved we will do a complete 3D assembly design. We can accept native files in the following formats:  Pro-E, SolidWorks, CATIA, and Siemens NX (Unigraphics). We can also accept IGS, STP, Parasolid, and DXF files.
Q. Where is the tool sampled?

A. We sample all tools in China prior to shipment. The tools will be run under production conditions for a minimum of three hours. We will select random samples during the run and provide complete first article inspection reports to you along with the sample parts. We also provide a process sheet.  These samples are shipped to you via air for your approval. Once the samples are approved we will then perform a detailed final inspection prior to shipment.
Q. Can we visit your facilities?

A. Yes, we encourage you to do so at any time. Whether traveling to Denver or China we will gladly accommodate your visit and will assist with any transportation arrangements.
Q. What components are used in the tool build and will we be able to get replacement parts in the U.S.?

A. We use domestic or imported P-20 and H-13 from the best suppliers available. We use standard components such as DME or Progressive for cycle counters, water connectors, slide locks, etc. All bolts and other wear items are provided in US-Imperial or metric units depending on customer requirements.
Q. What about warranty?

A. Should there be a problem with one of our tools we will either return it to Denver or work with a shop of your choice to get you up and running as soon as possible, at our expense. All tools are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for one year.
Q. Who will be our contact during the tool build?

A. Once you have placed a purchase order with OMI, a U.S. Senior Project Manager will be assigned to the project. He will contact you to verify part design and tooling specifications. He will communicate with you concerning the tool design, engineering changes, and will supply you with weekly progress reports along with periodic photos. It is the Senior Project Manager based in the U.S. who will be responsible for all communications with the OMI staff in Asia.
